Who We Are
Our Approach
- We leverage the Executive Team's backgrounds at CEO/COO level to bring well-reasoned and coherent structure to complex scenarios.
- We enable clients to move ahead in areas where otherwise they would be delaying and potentially missing opportunities.
- We are high-level thinkers, but are more than capable of diving down into the details where it is necessary.
- We team with other experts where their expertise is complementary to ours.
Our Tagline
"We Bring Clarity. You Gain Control" is something we strive for in all areas of our work. To deliver on this promise, we conduct our own research in the following areas:
- Carbon Markets and Prices
The carbon dashboard on our web site was developed over 12 months as a concise update on what is happening in the world of carbon. It shows price changes and volumes in a broad range of markets. We were one of the first companies to correctly predict the fall in price for voluntary carbon at a time when most commentators were talking solely of its meteoric growth. Our input is updated monthly, not annually, so we are current with all key events.
- Legislative Environment
Axiom Methods develops its own offset projects. We need to understand what the future looks like. We keep ourselves apprised of changes in the regulatory and legislative environment. Axiom Methods defines the future into Probable, Possible and Unlikely outcomes. When we assess potential projects we use our financial modeling skills to bring to life the outcomes so we can understand the true drivers.
- Financial Modeling
We pride ourselves in our ability to devise tools that can facilitate understanding of complex scenarios. This can be very helpful for limiting options when investing or looking to maximize returns from an offset stream. Axiom Methods is also fully capable of doing complex modeling that is essential before committing large sums of capital. However our core and perhaps unique skills lie in the application of our modeling tools to facilitate consensus building in complex environments.
Recent Areas of Work
- CDM - Project Development - Central America/China
Axiom Methods is developing an Energy Efficiency CDM project in Central America. We have engaged the host site, are working with potential technology providers on the project design documents and a new methodology. It is our intention to manage this project through the entire UN approval process.
We have also assessed a potential CDM Hydroelectric project in China for third party investors.
- JI - Project Development - Eastern Europe
Axiom Methods is assisting a project developer navigate a landfill gas project through the JI process.
- Forestry Projects – USA
We conducted a feasibility assessment of a managed aforestation project in the USA. Axiom Methods looked at possible voluntary standard methodologies as well as potential in a future compliance system and modeled Probable, Possible and Unlikely scenarios.
Axiom Methods conducted a market assessment as part of a client's Due Diligence process prior to an acquisition in the carbon abatement space. The analysis scoped the current market, potential market size under different scenarios and looked at the competitive potential for the acquisition.
- Cogeneration Project - USA
We assessed potential Carbon Monetization scenarios for this project in voluntary, RGGI and upcoming compliance markets.
- Industrial Company, Likely Capped Entity and Offset Provider - USA
Axiom Methods assessed our client's potential offset credits to assess the best strategy under different legislative scenarios. This included assessing applicability in any potential upcoming cap and trade scheme as both Early Action Credits (EACs) and potential offsets as well as potential in existing voluntary markets. Scenarios were modeled resulting in DO, and DO IF plans of action.
- Carbon Reporting and Analysis Software Tools
US clients are increasingly interested in how they can best manage mandatory reporting of carbon emissions without introducing parallel data collection and aggregation systems, in addition to potentially automating their annual carbon footprint exercise. We have assessed a number of proprietary tools using real life scenarios, and worked with clients assessing costs and benefits.
